Miller Fair Henry Secures $66.9 Million Patent Verdict

A federal jury in the Eastern District of Texas has delivered a significant victory for Longitude Licensing Ltd., awarding the company $66.9 million in damages following a patent infringement battle against BOE Technology Group Co.

The legal team at Miller Fair Henry, including firm partner Andrea Fair and associate Garrett Parish, worked with lead firm Robins Kaplan LLP, including lead attorney Aaron Fahrenkrog and team members Emily Tremblay and Samuel LaRoque, to successfully argue that the display manufacturing giant infringed upon three patents that cover semiconductor devices and methods for configuring pixel electrode orientations in LCD displays used in computers, monitors, and televisions.

During the trial, BOE attempted to argue that the patents in question were invalid, but the jury upheld the strength of Longitude’s intellectual property. The jury also recognized BOE’s infringement of each of the three patents was willful after hearing evidence of extensive meetings and presentations between the parties dating back more than three years before suit was filed.

“We are glad to have been part of assisting a great team demonstrate that the intellectual property rights must be respected,” said Miller Fair Henry partner Andrea Fair. Ms. Fair picked the jury, presented Longitude’s damages expert, and cross-examined BOE’s corporate representative, and along with Mr. Parish, supported the team in preparing other aspects of the presentation of evidence and argument at trial.
