Based on research compiled by The Texas Lawbook, a digital publication covering the Texas legal profession, Miller Fair Henry served as counsel assisting teams that obtained three of the 10 largest jury awards in the state last year.
Those matters included:
#3 – A jury awarded $445.5 million to Collision Communications on Oct. 10 in an infringement trial against Samsung after finding the company was using the wireless technology covered by four patents it had not licensed.
#4 – In April, an East Texas jury awarded $279 million to Tyler-based investor Headwater Research against Samsung based on alleged patent infringement of wireless communications technology that allows devices to reduce data usage and network congestion, extend battery life and enable users to stay connected.
#6 – Verizon Wireless and two of its affiliated businesses were ordered to pay $175 million in damages in another infringement case brought by Headwater Research on claims of infringement on patented wireless communications technologies.
