Name partner Andrea Fair helped a Russ August Kabat trial team secure a $175 million verdict against Verizon in a patent infringement case brought by Headwater Research LLC. The jury in the Eastern District of Texas found that Verizon infringed on two Headwater wireless communications patents through the sale of Apple and Android mobile phones sold by the carrier.
Ms. Fair conducted jury selection, presented Headwater’s corporate representative and cross-examined Verizon’s representative during the 5-day trial, working alongside attorneys from Russ August & Kabat on a team led by Marc Fenster, Reza Mirzaie, Brian Ledahl, Ben Wang, Dale Chang, and others.
The decision marks the second major courtroom victory for the firm this year in representing Headwater, following a $278.7 million verdict in April against Samsung Electronics.
The case is Headwater Research LLC v. Verizon Communications Inc., E.D.T.X., Case No. 2:23-cv-00352.
