Miller Fair Henry is proud to announce that two cases the firm assisted with have been highlighted among the Biggest Texas Verdicts of 2024 by The Texas Lawbook.
The article features the top 10 jury results in the state, with cases involving Miller Fair Henry ranked in the number one and number eight spots.
Listed as the largest verdict for the year is the firm’s $847 million verdict on behalf of Dallas-based General Access Solutions Ltd. in a patent infringement case against Verizon. The result came after a five-day trial in the Eastern District of Texas, where jurors found that Verizon infringed upon two of General Access’s patents related to wireless technology. As local counsel to a team led by Glen Summers, along with John Hughes, Nosson Knobloch, and other members of Bartlit Beck, Ms. Fair handled jury selection, presented General Access’s corporate representative, and argued rebuttal closing. The District Court later issued an order granting Verizon’s motion for a new trial. The second trial began December 6, but two days later, the parties announced they had reached a settlement in principle.
The Texas Lawbook also lists the firm’s $122 million result in another patent infringement case among the top verdict for 2024. Along with lead counsel Marc Fenster, Reza Mirzaie, Brian Ledahl, and others from Russ August & Kabat, Ms. Fair represented AlmondNet as local counsel in a suit against Amazon, accusing the tech giant of infringing six patents covering “novel internet/network-based advertising systems and methods.” Ms. Fair handled part of jury selection, examined AlmondNet’s inventor and corporate representative, and presented AlmondNet’s damages expert. U.S. District Judge Alan Albright entered final judgment in the case in September, awarding AlmondNet $121.95 million in damages and additional prejudgment interest totaling $14.6 million. Amazon has appealed the judgment.
